How do I obtain a No Objection Letter from India for my J-1 visa Waiver?

Stage 1: Submit the request and documentation to the CGI (Consulate General of India) based on your jurisdiction:

Stage 2:

On receipt of attested forms from the Consulate General of India, send two original sets to:

1. The Regional Passport Office (where your passport was issued initially), in India,
2. The Home Department of State in India you belong to.
3. Submit an online application for the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development at http://nori.ac.in

Stage 3:

On receipt of waiver clearance from all three offices above, complete the J-1 Waiver online: https://j1visawaiverrecommendation.state.gov/

Send an attested set of forms and affidavits with clearances received, indicating clearly the CASE NUMBER given by USCIS to the Education Department, Consulate General of India along with the requested fees and self addressed stamped envelop for return mail for further processing.

The Consulate General shall issue the waiver certificate and forward it to the Embassy of India in Washington DC for onward transmission to the US Immigration Authority who will notify the applicant directly regarding its acceptance.
