Monday, January 31, 2000 - H-1B Numbers Still Available
As of January 31, 2000, INS still has NOT
received enough H-1B petitions (both approved and in the pipeline) to
reach the H-1B cap, INS has advised Scott Borene, AILA's INS Benefits
Liaison Chair. The Service advises that it will issue a notice in the
Federal Register when it appears that there will be enough H-1B cases in
the pipeline to reach the cap 30 days later, at current demand rates. Of
course, once that notice is issued, it is probable that enough cases
will be filed to reach the cap in considerably less than 30 days. Note
that INS is referring here to cases filed, not cases approved.
